When you register a domain name, you are obliged to give a genuine street address, email account and phone as per the policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This information, though, is not kept only by the registrar company, but is available to the public on WHOIS websites too, so anybody can see your details and a lot of people may not be delighted with this. Consequently, numerous companies have launched the so-called Whois Privacy Protection service, which hides the domain name registrant’s info and upon a WHOIS check, people will see the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner. This service is also popular as Privacy Protection or Whois Privacy Protection, but all these names refer to the exact same service. Today, most of the Top-Level Domains around the world allow Whois Privacy Protection to be enabled, but there are still country-specific extensions that don’t support the service.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you’ve ordered a shared hosting plan from us and you have registered one or more domain names under your account, you’ll be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your private information safe. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign on the right-hand side of each of your domain names. Its colour will let you know whether a domain name is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can activate Whois Privacy Protection with only a few clicks of the mouse. Thus, you can protect your private data even if you have not activated the service during the hosting account order process. You’ll be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

Activating Whois Privacy Protection for any domain name is very easy if you have a semi-dedicated server. As long as the domain is registered with us, it will be listed in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel that is included with each and every semi-dedicated server plan. In case a given generic or country-code domain supports Whois Privacy Protection, you will notice a small logo next to that domain. To activate the Whois Privacy Protection service, you will have to click on it. In the exact same fashion, you can also renew or disable the service. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for a domain name upon signup too, but since the service is optional, we’ll give you the chance to add it to any of your domains at a later time if you think things over and decide to conceal your private details from the public eye after you’ve already created the account.
